this is currently floating around the net, yes, I have seen it, it looked like this:

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways on shagged tires, motor in flames, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, shouting "...holy shit...what a ride!"

What's your Mobster Name? Or your Prison Bitch name? Insult me, Shakesperian Style!

This just in from my ultra-cool Sister:

This is something to add to your file on why you should watch what you e-mail. I was especially taken by the statement that GOD forgave her for her bad behavior. I don't think that most people would believe how much prayer is involved in the day to day operations of Longview.

Police accuse man of crime against pig
Lunzeta Chretien

September 1, 2004

Ouachita Parish Sheriff deputies arrested a West Monroe man for committing a crime against nature Monday night.

Deputies arrested Austin Gullette, 45, 4266 Jonesboro Road, West Monroe, for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with a pig.

Gullette's sister, owner of the pig, said she caught her brother in the act. She said she walked outside because she heard squealing and discovered her brother with one of her three pigs.

When the witness confronted her brother, she said he took off running into the woods.

Deputies left the pig, a 125-pound Vietnamese potbelly, in the care of the owner, who said someone would come out to her residence to see about the animal.

"I'm embarrassed that this is my brother," she said. "I've never in my life seen anyone do this to a harmless little animal."

Maj. Royce Toney, with the OPSO, agreed that the event was a rare incident.

"In the 29 years we've been here, we've never heard of anyone committing a crime against nature with a pig," Toney said.

However, Toney said similar incidents with dogs, donkeys and sheep have been reported.

The owner said her pig, which she fondly refers to as "P-pie," is hiding because she's scared.

Although, Gullette didn't admit to the offense, Royce said the eyewitness and physical evidence were enough to make an arrest.

A crime against nature is punishable by a $2,000 fine or five years in prison.

Gullette was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center. Bond had not been set.

nice weekend, did not get all the things done I wanted, but nice.

Saturday got the suspension off the Thing, all components will go to Phil at Aftershocks tomorrow for re-work. Rode in the afternoon, went to Todai Sushi Saturday dinner, then went to see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. If you got some extra cash, this one is worth full price.

Sure it's all blue screen, but it is just amazing. totally world of tomorrow

sunday? still did not work on house.

Today? got the call. My Sprinter is IN! I went to Hartzheim Dodge, one of the only 2 dealers licensed to sell Sprinters in CA. Will in fleet sales had most of the paperwork ready, we filled in the rest. Tomorrow I bring them a cashiers check for the downpayment, and my insurance papers, and drive home in my white 140 hi-top sprinter. Woo HOO

After spending Sunday working with Matt on his, I have decided to look for a fabricator to build the bulkhead in mine.

more as it develops

When I was a teenager in North East Texas, one of the tortures my folks put me through was TOFTY. Some stupid temple youth group. So not only would I get to be shunned by babptists in small town northeast Texas for being a Jew (yes, I was Kyle), but I would get shunned by Jews from all over the state for being from a small town.

They had weekend meetings, called conclaves, usually during the year. You can imagine the drill, travel to some foreign town, get put in some gracious congregation member's house, spend all weekend at the Temple being teased unmercifully, Oh, I mean participating in fun events, then be forced to sing crappy early 1970's songs sung by some frizzy haired idiot with an acoustic guitar.

You know WHY frizzy haired idiots play crappy early 70's tunes on their acoustic guitar? Cause you only have to know 2 chords, you don't have to be talented, and chicks MAY think you are cool. Unless said frizzy haired idiot is a girl, in which case she is overweight with a trendy haircut, bound for a life of angry feminism. They should all have their guitars smashed to bits, like Belushi did to Steven Bishop in Animal House.

Anyhow, yesterday justice was misserved. I don't approve of the Homeland Security Office, or their actions, or their reasons for deporting Cat Stevens, but somewhere, deep inside me, a tortured young kid who hates singing frizzy haired idiot songs shouted "Heck Pecker Yeah!"

You're NOT being followed by a moon shadow, mooooon shadow- moon shadow, no sir, your ass is leaving. as in Leavin', on a Jet Plane!

YAY! Let's hear it for those of us and those like us, who hate singing those damn songs!

On my way in to work today I phoned my favorite Uncle. Okay, my only Uncle, but if Uncle Irv wasn't my only uncle, he'd still be my favorite. Years ago (before the frizzy haired idiots tortured me even) my grandmother Manya (may she rest in peace) told me she had 2 boys. Irving and Max. Max is my dad, and one of my heroes. Irving is my uncle, and another one of my heroes.

Grandma told me, I was the first son, Irving was the first son. Louis (my brother) was the second son, Max (my dad) was the second son. My kid brother looks exactly like my dad. Grandma told me I would probably look like my uncle. It's true, we are both more,... ummm, AERODYNAMICALLY STREAMLINED! Yes, that's it! Streamlined!

I love my dad, he gave me my life, my sense of how to complete tasks, any engineering ability I have, and is an all around good man. But my Uncle Irving? He gave me a sense of cool! He drove a Pontiac Firebird Formula 400 a freakin RACE Car, when my pop had an Oldsmobile Delta 88. My uncle made fun of FBI men while being interviewed by the Warren Commission. Gangsters in Dallas KNEW him. He married a hottie! Irving Statman is one of the coolest men I know.

It sure was nice talking to him this morning.

In conclusion, I heard from the ex-wife of the guy I sorta worked with who kilt hisself. She is doing okay, they have been seperated for 5 years, the kids are allright. It's just sad he couldn't wrestle his demons.

no matter what kids, as long as you are alive, you can work to make things better. Once you are dead? that's it. Don't do it.

So about a million years ago, in Austin, my ex wife made me leave my comfortable job at the political consulting firm, and try harder to make money.

I worked for a while with my pal Chris Null at a company called Surface Mount Taping, trying to develop an IT department in an underfunded environment. All I really remember was calling the place Surface Mount Aping, the CFO was scared when I wore baseball hats, a tall girl thought Chris was handsome, there was a crazed female engineer who grabbed my satchel every time I walked by, and Chris and I had Sprite and Twix bars for breakfast every day.

That job dissapeared as I was offered a position at Motorola. Where I met some wonderful guys, but was a contractor, servicing Macs. It ended, and I went to work with a guy named Randall Dennis at Macintosh Magic. A small shop that did freelance mac support.

Well, we were both strong personalities, and it did not work out in the long run, but an amiciable parting, that led me right back into motorola.

Today I found out Randall 'took his own life' about 6 weeks ago, and they are selling off his shop as an estate sale. If you are in Austin and need historic mac parts, here's the link.

Randall, r.i.p. Sorry you could not chase those inner demons.

In other news, Russ Meyer also died. I think he led a more ful and satisfying life.

I got home yesterday and rode my bicycle. (course, mine is a 2000 model, in red) . YAY! My pal Jeff Lim hollered at me to get off my ass and start excercising. He just went through RPLND for his cancer, so he can yell at me. Rode around the block, and realized I am an old, fat man, and I need a "layback" seatpost, to get me further away from the pedals. The problem is no-one makes a layback seatpost for a 26.0 frame tube. I will work on this later today.

Yesterday both Greg and Flash sent me the same link about some kid speeding on a motorcycle in Minnesota. I am guessing he was on a modified Hayabusa.

Anyhow, this goober was clocked at 205 by a cop in a plane with a stopwatch. Wow! 205. estimated. The officer is not taking into account personal lag times, when he hits the stopwatch button. I am guessing the officer was all excited, and premature. I bet the guy was only going 198. :)

Anyhow, it spurred me to think about when men were men, and fast meant something. It reminded me of Rollie Free. A REALLY fast motorcyclist on a Vincent Black Shadow. One of the coolest bikes ever.

Well, that's all for now. Peer called last night, either we are gonna ride to Feather River Canyon in north CA on saturday, or I am going to put insulation under the house.

Monday, September 20, 2004

So my pal Jim in Austin took his videocamera, some friends, and maybe too much of that wacky tebakkey, and made a quick short. It's bandwidthi intense, so if you are on a slow connection, don't bother.

It made me homesick for Austin

Texedelphia Cheesesteaks

and my pals.

but I think he needs to get a job, fast

Well, my Sprinter has not yet arrived. That's okay, cause some guy in a Hummer told me Sprinters were for wussies. Even better? International has just released a SUPER truck the CXT, that would tow the hummer down the road sideways.

Friday night Sara and I stayed in and finished watching a movie. My pop took me to see this at the Twin Pines Drive In, when I was a wee lad. Sadly, this drive in is gone.

Slept late Saturday, then rode 2-up to downtown San Jose on the Bullet, for the Art Car Festival. It was brilliant, we say quite a few cars I like:Aquatic Mosaic, VainVan (by the gal who brought us the BraBall), GuitarCar, CarThedral, Radio Flyer, but none held the allure of Scott Gordon's "Meat Wagon" from El Carnivore Restaurant, days gone by. I miss driving the Holey Cow. Art Cars are cool.

Saturday afternoon we drove the Mighty Festiva up to San Francisco to a Tiki Art Show at the Shooting Gallery, where we ran into Rebecca and her "swoony Boyfriend" Paul. After the show we stopped at some neighborhood bar, where some drunk guy threw some other guys cell phone, then smashed a bottle, and somehow, I was oblivious to all of this.

Then we went for Ethiopian dinner. I forgot the name of the restaurant, so no link here. It was good. Left there and drove to the moustrap thing, but realized we were early. Stopped at a Thai bar, the Lingba Lounge, and had a flaming tiki drink called "Bowl of Monkeys". mmmm Tiki Drinks

Then off in a ruch to see the life size Mouse Trap game, up in Hunter's Point. Hmmm, it was cold, there was booze, the entire "run" of the game took less than a minute. But it was still cool to see.

Afterwards we retired to the NocNoc lounge in SF on Haight Street. Sara's request. It is full of hippies smoking pot. It was stinkey, and small, and kinda dirty. But! Sara was having a GREAT time. She actually danced on tables! And scared one couple away. Now if you can dance on tables on famous Haight Street in a smokey hippie bar, and scare people away, then you are cool. Very Cool! Cool like Steve McQueen. I love Sara!

We dropped Paul & Rebecca off, and I drove the Festiva home. When we got to the house, Sara was telling me how wonderful it was that she could see without glasses. She's right.

Sunday we were gonna meet Rebecca and Paul and all go for a ride up Mount Hamilton. When I woke up, it was definitely raining. I checked the internet, it was raining. I checked the Mt. Hamilton webcam, and it was wet. So NO ride.

Instead, I went to the grocery store, and bought breakfast fixins. Got home, dropped the bag with the biscuits, and heard "pumpfh, pumpfh, pumpfh!" All 3 tubes burst, so I made 3 tubes worth of biscuits! OH MY! (had I found the weblink, I would have known I could have stored them) and eggs, and some Yves canadian veggie not really bacon. Blech. Soyrizo? good! Canadian Veggie Bacon? BARF!

I try to be really good, and explore new possibilities, so I can eat with Sara. And SOME veggie subsititutes are okay. However, Veggie Canadian Bacon, with "natural liquid smoke" as one ingredient tastes like, well, crap on a stick.

Sometimes I win, and we get acceptable veggie substitutes. Other times, there is nothing to replace the taste and feel of DEAD Cow! woo hoo! Less filler, MORE Killer! As Julz says, "Vegetables are what my food eats"

Back to the weekend.

We ate, rested, then drove to the Kennedy Park in El Sobrante, for our pal Joan's brother's memorial party. When he was being Sister Sindy, he must have done some wonderful stuff. If he was anything like Joan, cause she is pretty amazing. Lots of fun. He must have been a great guy, he had many wonderful pals. I hope everyone can support the work he started, they are having a memorial sale.

Anyhow, we drove home afterwards, and I got busy. We have a tree in the front courtyard, podocarpus, or fern pine, it is a giant bush out of control. But, we saw some more trees like this one, at our bank, that had been trimmed to look like, well, trees!

So I got out the pruning shears, the chainsaw, ladder, etc, and cut all limbs under 6' up. So it is now 2 main trunks, with leaves and branches above 6'. It will take some time to grow out, and I think the leaves need to fill in where I trimmed, but it looks like a tree, not a shambling bush about to take over.

I'll work this week on more stuff in our yard, it just grows wild and out of control, this is a great time to reign some of it in. :)

After tree cutting, I took a shower. I was covered in tree gunk. While washing, I rinsed my mouth, and barfed! no kidding, I was really surprised, just GAK! and stomach spew! It gave me bad chemo flashbacks.

I know it was just dust and grime in the back of my throat, but still. Barfing. Bleah.

finished, cleaned, brushed, and sat with Sara and watched "50 First Dates" a really cute Adam Sandler movie about love.

Went to sleep, and voila! here I am.

So I got back from Dr. Scates office this morning. My bloodwork is fine, I check out A-O-K! He says my metabolism is almost returned to normal, and I am not as fat as I think I am, but to walk more, and get in better aerobic shape, and stop eating so much.

I went in the back to visit the nursing staff, they are all wonderful ladies. Woo HOO!

I feel GREAT! It is so good to be alive.

And I am not really a pirate, I am a NINJA!

Final Note, I posted about San Jose cops and Tasers a few weeks back. Well, now they are after teenagers.

(I'm told the link may not work, here is the text)
Local - San Jose Mercury News

San Jose Mercury News
TASER USE ON TEENS

Thu Sep 16, 6:52 AM ET

By Crystal Carreon, Mercury News

A San Jose police officer arrived last Thursday at a Shasta Hanchett duplex, where a teenage boy was allegedly punching his mother. The officer ordered the boy, who had been restrained by a neighbor, to sit on the ground in front of her.

The teen refused, and when he started to walk away, officer Julie Marin shot him with a Taser, sending a 50,000-volt charge through his body.

The 5-foot-3, 136-pound 14-year-old became the second teen San Jose police have zapped this month, raising questions over how the latest less-lethal weaponry adopted by the department is being used and whether police should fire the stun guns on juveniles.

Full story at San Jose Mercury News

if some cop whacks me with a taser, i will stalk him to his home and cattleprod his satchel. this is total BS.

this just in from Natalie in Austin:

Ayyyyyy, Matey! September 19 is International Talk Like a Pirate Day!!!

Check out the website for details:
http://www.talklikeapirate.com/piratehome.html

It's an official, sanctioned, all-day opportunity for great SILLINESS
I KNOW my pal Rebecca will be all over this.

included for free, a pirate translator!

Take it Back.

The good guys at Verizon were asleep this morning, and hung over, and willing to help me out. They took back the Motorola V710 I tried to buy yesterday, as it gets NO signal at my house. They also reset my account to ZERO, so I do not have current account, and can go month-month.

Fortunately, my pal Chris Null edits Mobile PC magazine, and they are doing a phone roundup for next month's issue. I should have ideas by then.

AND. There's a burger joint out here called Carl's Junior. (note their distinctive logo in the upper left corner, a smiling star) I cannot eat there. Just as I was leaving Texas, a pal of mine told me about Hot Carl, which is a disgusting deviate sex practice. After I heard that, and saw Carl's Jr., I knew I could never go there. Well, someone has made a Tee Shirt about it.

Sorry mom, had to post it, sick but funny.

Finally, I have decided to be happy at work. No matter what. The past few weeks have been incredibly stressful, and I am just gonna be happy. Happy to be alive, happy to be here, just happy. Pardon me, I am gonna go be happy.

Monday, September 13, 2004

i hate cell phones
i hate them
just thought I would share my observations with you

Yes, I tried to go to Verizon and get a new phone, to replace the one that MAY have dropped a few too many times

they talked me into the $300 phone
and it does not work from my house.

I do not want to take photos

I do not need video

I do not want MP3s

I just want to pick up the damn phone, and hear someone on the other end.

grrrrr!

Sunday, September 12, 2004

gosh, last week was so bad, I lost track of time and did not post.

quick updates

Sara had part of her surgery Tuesday, then the laser broke
She had the rest of the surgery Wednesday

Thursday I had to go to work, and it was a rough day, lots of questions, not many answers, and a high stress level

Thursday night Matthew and I went to Tlaquepaque, the neighborhood taqueria, and I drank, a lot. LIke, college days a lot. I was drunk and sick, but felt emotionally much better

Friday morning sucked

Friday afternoon, Sara told me she had the patches off, her eyes were getting better, she can see, but has some cloudiness, normal!

Friday night we watched videos and slept early

Saturday we slept late. I pulled the ST apart, it got new tires, new front brake pads, changed the oil and filter, cleaned and reassembelled.

In the afternoon, we went to the Great Mall to get Sara some cheap sunglasses. Now that she doesn't have to wear perscription, she can wear cheap fronts. We got her some.

Also saw the movie "Napoleon Dynamite" which is fun at a matinee, but a rip at full price.

Saturday night we rode the ST to dinner with Eric, James & Tara at Albertos. I drank iced tea. :)

Sunday morning slept late, but woke up possessed. I installed a Power outlet on the ST dash (that's a cigarette lighter socket to anyone who does not know the new politically correct term.)

This will allow me to run power to my GPS unit

While I was in there, I wired up a set of Fiamm horns. OMJ used to do this on all his bikes, and I've done it on some of mine. These are very VERY loud horns. Helps people in cars watching TV to know you are there. It shoulds like a big rig.

Got it all wired up and prettified, reinstalled all bodywork, and took her out for a spin. Up to Alices, then back, very simple, but very nice ride. The new tires stick well, the brake pads are fantastic, and the one guy in a SUV who started to lane change me on Hwy 280 decided not to, after I banged the horn, and he thought someone kicked open the gates of hell.

Am home, Sara and I are about to head out for an early dinner.

Tuesday, September 07, 2004

In Sara news: we drove to San Ramon, we waited, they prepped her, then the laser broke. Well, didn't break, just did not pass their high level of testing standards.

So we drove home

we repeat tomorrow

Sara is fine

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS - TEXAS STYLE

People here in Texas have trouble with all those shalls and shall nots in the 10 Commandments. Folks here just aren't used to talking in those terms. So, some folks out in South Texas got together and translated the "King James" into "King Ranch" language.

Ten Commandments, Cowboy style:

Cowboy's Ten Commandments posted on the wall at Cross Trails Church in Fairlie, Texas.

(1) Just one God.
(2) Honor yer Ma &Pa.
(3) No telling tales or gossipin'.
(4) Git yourself to Sunday meeting.
(5) Put nothin' before God.
(6) No foolin' around with another fellow's gal.

Blockage Gone!

Taking the advice of my paternal grandmother (msrip) I drank a lot of water last night, did some deep knee bends this morning, and voila! like magic. I am a happier man.

Thanks to the wisdom of my ancestors.

Other news: planning a nice, quiet weekend, with no plans.

dan is selling my old DRZ.

if you want a bangin super motard, call him

I need to poop. it doesn't happen very often, as Miss Pretty Thing(tm) says, "you have the constitution of a Chihuahua, you poop every 10 minutes"

but for some reason, today,..... oh well.... On to fun stuff.

The Sprinter is in South Carolina, and should be here next week. I have not put a down payment on it, but have "first right of refusal" meaning they guy calls me when it arrives, and I decide how bad I want it. My plan is to buy the cargo version. Build a bulkhead but with a sliding door in the center. Put in some seating that can convert to beds? An insulation kit for heat and quiet. Wood Dash Kit, you know, Bling. Full Wrap Nudge bar in stainless. Deflectors. and of course, the Mercedes grill emblems and hubcaps,l to convert back to mercedes from Dodge.

My thought is that i can build a cabin in front, for daily driving, comfort, and camping, then carry bikes, cargo, etc, in back. AND, be getting 30+mpg? while in the BIGGEST minivan ever made? That runs easy 100mph? OH I am getting escited just thinking about it.

The LLROL is getting sicker and slower. AC still works, but she pees oil from every seal, the rear wheel antilock brake computer has not mystically fixed itself, and they Bay Area roads are so incredibly bad, that I think i should take it for a drive to loosen my blockage.

Still have not looked at gun safes, have not had time, have been busy as all Hades

Tuesday Sara gets Lasik, hopefully she will see me Tuesday night. She’s been working a lot, like crazy lately, and it is catching up to her. I hope we spend this weekend doing NOTHING and relaxing.

Anyone know anything about Mutual Funds? I gotta diversify some of my Cisco Stocks, and I do not know where to go with them. Any suggestions appreciated.
