three random historical photos for a Rosh Hashana celebration.
First, a major shout out to my Aunt Donna Berliner, who is amazing and wonderful, and was a beauty queen, as evidenced by this news article

Last week at Tacos, one of the guys mentioned a "mullet contest" at his work, and had old photos. here's one of me in about 1983?

Finally, my friend Rebecca got married on Saturday, the wedding was wonderful, her husband is a great guy, but in my mind, this is what she will always look like:

I'm SUPER Pissed, and I do not know where to take it. (other than email to my congressperson and senator)
We bought a regular mortgage, on a small home, which we faithfully pay.
NO ONE IS BAILING US OUT!
They are using our tax dollars to bail out the assholes who bought McMansions they could not afford and bigass mercedes they could not afford.
WHERE IS OUR BAILOUT? OR? stop using OUR Tax dollars to bail out the bad decision makers.
No one rescues us or rewards us for making responsible decisons and living at a level we can afford.

With many more thanks to Natalie and Giselle, Tarzan has become quite infatuated with Charlie and Lola, a wonderful BBC kid's show about a young lady and her brother. They have brilliant adventures, make-believe and real world situations.
When we feed Saul, some distraction is nice. He does not watch TV so much, but a DVD in the computer or on a portable we borrowed from Uncle Liza, and he is enthralled.
Mainly we've been watching vintage Disney, Peter Pan (1953 version), Jungle Book, etc...
But in the past week, he has decided Charlie and Lola are IT. He will giggle and say "oh, that Lola" etc. he is hilarious, and it is nice distract.
Oh, our roof is finished, New gutters installed, ceiling repaired, garage cleaned out, we are ready for the rains now! Hooray! Many thanks to Kevin Beene and his crew from Atlas Roofing.

So Hurricane Ike hit Galveston, 2am this morning. Amazingly, history repeats, and folks do not learn. September 8, 1900. Sure, they built a seawall, but really... There just isnt't that much in Galveston worth hanging onto, Storm coming? Go North.
Now, where will Ike go next? Apparently headed toward Lufkin.
CNN is milkin' it for all its worth. "CNN Your Hurricane Headquarters" Well, I'd like to order a small hurricane, oh, and a side of fries? Seriously, they have a camera in a car, and a guy is driving around, holding a microphone babbling on the camera. But no, seriously, he is DRIVING while reporting. I'm thinking that is more dangerous than the hurricane.
From Lufkin to Longview? Not far at all.
The Big Question is? How strong will it be when it hits Longview? Will mom & dad be okay? Is it all Hype? Will it blow limbs off the pine trees? Will Cheyenne the dog be okay? Will mom and dad weather it out with the neighbors? Hopefully drinking Hurricanes!
Will it miss Austin? Hopefully just a big storm, and Sherry is doin great, or havin a nap.
Tarzan and I watched Peter Pan this morning while eating yogurt.

I ran. I ran so far away
SO, we tool Tarzan to Sinai Preschool, it was nice, warm, open, but he won't eat. and the kids there have to be able to feed themselves.
so we are working on him , and will re-evalate soon

Go Go Girls of the Apocalypse by Victor Gischler.
it's 3am, I need every second of sleep I can get, but I was riveted, and for the first time since Tarzan came home, I stayed up late reading for pure pleasure...
