Saul seems to be happier with grandma and grandpa here. The fuss on the way out this morning was minimal, and I hear reports he was quiet, but not totally teary when they picked him up this afternoon.
I wish it would stop raining for a bit.
work - argh
if anyone knows of a corvair lakewood (stationwagon) with a good body, for cheap, lemme know
yep, that's about it

i needed a happy picture
this is LAST weekend when we stopped at the KTM shop in Livermore
he properly climbed up on the bike by himself, and look at that smile...

I am NOT buying him an 09 KTM 50. eventually, when he is closer to ready, I'll look for a used Yamaha PW50 with training wheels, more the $500 range, not the $3500 range.....

HOORAY!
Today Saul spent most of the day with Mike & Evie. They went to Costco, where he sampled food, Starbucks where he sampled candy coffee, and all over the place. When they brought him home, he was happy and giggling, and feeling great.
WHEW. he totally needed that. YAY. Hooray! Hooray!
He went to bed pretty easily, only TWO Curious George stories, and not much arguing.
HOORAY happy kid.
and apparently, he ate alot

UPDATE!
Miki just called from Sinai. They had morning Shabbat service, he was smiling, drank all the grape juice and ate a lot of challa!
She says there are moments when he is smiling and happy. that is what tells us he will get used to it.
And? when he is smiling, what a wonderful boy.
(I already knew that part thought)

Spoiler Alert! VERY SAD BOY, do not watch, if you are gonna cry.

Saul is having a VERY hard time adjusting to his new daycare. He has been at Scribbles and Giggles Pediatric Daycare since he was 3 months old. He knows everyone there, and is very comfortable.
However, he NEEDS to learn to eat better, by watching other children, with more normal eating patterns. So we have moved him to Temple Sinai Nursery School. He is in a class with kids his own age, but? he is the smallest boy there, and it is new, and he does not know everyone.
And he is very sad. He cries every day, and fights and bargains with us to do anything other than go to school. He cries at night, he cries whenever we talk about it.
I am told this is normal, and a transition this big is difficult. But it is also hard on me and Sara, because this is the first time we have really seen Saul unhappy.
This morning, I took some videos at breakfast. We had a good shower, and got him dressed, but Sara had to leave for a doctors appointment, and he got a little wound up.
In the first clip, he is mad the camera is there, and does not want to take a video.
Second clip, mom tells him she has to go to the doctors office, and he says he wants to go to the doctor with her. "because I want to go to the doctor with you" He does not really want to go to the doctor, he just wants to be with mom, and NOT go to daycare...
Third clip, I manage to calm him down just a little big, and feed him some yogurt while he watches Charlie and Lola. He is calm, but not happy, and eats all the yogurt.
Fourth clip? Total Meltdown. We are done with the yogurt, and it is time to get out of the chair, get coat on and go to school. At this point, he will try anything. He wants to go to the doctor, he wants to go home, he wants to stay home. He clings to me, and I finally get him calm enough to get out to the van...
Fifth clip, in the van, big, huge crocodile tears. He is SOO unhappy. He cries all the way
When we got to Sinai, he would not let go of me, and was crying so hard he tried to make himself throw up. I handed him off to Einav, she is one of his teachers, and very nice.
Miki, the director showed me some photos they took yesterday at the teddy bear picnic they had. Saul was sitting quietly with the other kids, and ate all his grapes. She feels he is beginning to get more used to it.
Sara and I work to pick him up early every day, so he gets some happy time each day. When I picked him up yesterday? the moment he saw me, he was smiles, and even said he had a LITTLE fun at school. So there is hope
But it is very hard on Sara and I, which is why we are so tired at the moment.

Okay, today was Saul's first day at Congregation Sinai Nursery. And? He did not so much care for transition. He did not want to let go of me in the morning when I dropped him off. So I stayed for a while, and watched them make fruit salad.
FIRST DAY and they handed him a KNIFE! What were they thinking? even though it was a plastic knife, and they were closely supervised while cutting fruit slices into small salad bits, he COULD have gone jailhouse wild and shanked the kid next to him. Fortunately, he did not.
When I picked him up, he was a little red and puffy, and cried some, and maybe was a little baby-ish, but cheered right up when I was there.
On the way home? I asked him what he wanted to do, and he said to see Uncle Matt. So we stopped at Uncle Matt's house. On his last booze-fueled adventure in Canada, Matt got Saul a present. A small orange whoopie cushion. Insanity ensues, video attached!
tonight at the house, Saul ate a whole babyfood jar of veggie beef something, by himself, with a spoon. Then some cheerios, then some peanut butter and jelly. So that was good.

Orange indulgence
Sara took Saul shopping yesterday, and got him some red shoes. Mike & Ev stopped by with an orange hat.

And Sara found orange socks on eBay, and they are on their way!
Shout out for the orange finding mommy, for her orange loving Saul.
this morning we trimmed his toenails. He has allowed me to trim his fingernails, but I must sit with him on my lap, line up each nail and then he says "CLIP" before I use the clipper
Toenails - MUCH harder
but eventually he will get used to it?

As you may know, Soy Tejano
My pal Fred in Austin sent me a link to the LCP,
their Mex vs BC parody ads are brilliant
this clip, Otra, about the only erectile dysfunction drug specifically designed for Latino men.
Virgin de Guadalupe Spray? hilarious
(dios mijo, you lost your virginity again, didn't you?)
side note, why does youtube put "uk" in front of all my links?

We have a winner, thanks Tia! Orange Socks! no design, plain orange socks. Ordering now.
and some photos of him eating a chocolate cupcake last night at Dale's superbowl party
(sorry for crap cam-phone images)

and! Broke Jack's Mount!
link to photos of Jack's BMW
when trying to unload this GIGNORMOUS, heavy, big thing, with NO brakes, on my wee tiny motocross ramp, it attempted to jump off, flip the ramp, and bellyflop on me.
did I mention I can barely reach the handlebars when standing on the ground?
Sara hopped in, used her superhuman MOMMY-STRENGTH, and helped get it all safely to the ground, tires only.
is s now dripping in Jack & Cora's garage. He's still a little dizzy, so the folks at Stanford are gonna keep him overnight just to check on him. I reckon he is fine, but needs rest
