how to tell you have cracked

if higher powers tell you to paint signs all over everything? yet do not give you the skill and talent to do it well.

And my God? never instructed anyone to pierce their lips and seal their mouth. What is it Brad says? Every Jewish Holiday but one = They tried to kill us, we survived, thank God, let's eat.

I feel for this lady, she has obviously had a difficult run of it. Now? it is time to get help.

Estrella, I hope you find answers and peace.

The Tussionex is putting a smack-down on my cough and congestions. "The most common adverse reactions associated with TUSSIONEX® are sedation, drowsiness, and mental clouding, which may impair the mental and/or physical abilities required for potentially hazardous tasks. As with other drugs in this class, the possibility of tolerance and/or dependence, particularly in patients with a history of drug dependence, should be considered."

so it's addictive, and may cause a brain cloud. I have that!

The Zpac is working. The inhaler still scares me, but is working. I've been laying around all day resting. I feel better, except when I cough, both temples hurt, at my brain.

But all in all, improving!

And? yesterday? my wonderful Pescatarian wife heated up some chicken soup for me. That was a first. I was very grateful, and need to express my thanks

Today she is stopping on the way home and getting some Matzoh Ball Soup from Gunther's a place Evie recommends.

oops, lightheaded, must lay back down

I will beat this cough in record time, thanks Dr. Nguyen

and remember, March 14th is just around the corner...

it feels like I have, as they say in North EAST Texas, the delerium tremens and the cold funickshens

I alternate between chills and fever, and the shakes tossed in there for some vibratey goodness.

I was told to expect it in the first 24 hours.

Actually planning on staying home tomorrow

Sara is being a wonderful trooper about this, and will take the late night feeding of the hooligan, so I can sleep. YAY Sara. YAY Hooligan

Well, I went to see Dr. Nguyen. YAY Dr. Nguyen.

She said I was a few days out from full tilt pneumonia, and while Neti pots are helpful, they will not clear me up

I got:
Z-pac for 5 days, to clean out the stuff my spleen is not there doing
Tussin syrup, but it LOOKS like the stuff I am coughing up. V hard to get down
An inhaler, to help break up the stuff in my lungs
STRICT instructions to rest

She gave me a detailed explanation of how some capillaries in my lungs are allowing me to inhale, but not exhale, cause they are covered with goop. Well, actually, my technical comprehension dropped right there, so she said think of them as lots of hair like little worms dangling in the lungs, they help process the air. except my worms are covered up, so they are not doing their job

Anyhow, I took the pills, the tussin (gak) and puffed the inhaler. for the past 30 minutes I have been coughing like mad, and all sorts of nastiness is coming out.

She said I should feel better in 2-3 days, and be 100% in 5 or 6 days, or I call her back.

I Dr. Nguyen. She managed to fit me into her schedule with one day notice. She is kind, she cares, she is the best.

excuse me, I need to go unload a lung biscuit

Antonio coined a new phrase: Hypochondriac porn

Just look at the pix
Neti pot
a video you can buy to show you how
Pic of girl? she is so happy she drained her nose
left center, view the video!

i notice in all these pix? is some cute chick, draining her sinuses. There aren't videos of overweight tired guys with rings under their eyes, and a big green stream of goop coming out of the nose. I wonder why?

I have 1:15 appt with Dr. Nguyen. Neti Pot is good, but my sinuses are working overtime to make sure I am full of icky crap

gimme them old time drugs.

so it's cold season.

and Tarzan is in daycare, which, as wonderful as they are, is still a germ filled pit of disease.

We struggled all last week to get him over his runny nose. I think we are there, it transferred to me.

Runny nose - back of the throat drip = cough + upset stomach

add lack of sleep on top of that? I am cranky

So I heard an article on NPR about sinus flush. Now I know, ya'll are thinking "he moved to California and is turnin hippie on is"

OH NO NO NO! The first time I heard of this was Joe, the Red Headed Menace (and overworked successful businessman) talking about some Tibetan monks using Neti Pots. And how it really helped him.

Well that + NPR? My nose is a river of snot, I will try almost anything. I now own a NeilMed(tm) NasaFlo Neti pot

I got home from picking up Saul, he threw up everywhere, out of spite I think, after I cleaned it all up?

I read the instructions. I watched the video from the Mayo Clinic, and I loaded my Neti pot up.

I poured 1 cup of water and pre mixed sinus rinse from one nostril, through my sinuses to the other side.

And? It felt GREAT

I could breathe. I was open and less snotty.

for about 15 minutes.

Then my superior Statman Sinuses cranked up production, and I am full again.

I wonder how often I can wash them? It sure felt good briefly.

Saul is bouncing and spinning in the bouncy chair, and Sara is out getting a massage I think.

I want a dang ol nap. And I want my nose to stop running.

But it was fun to pour a cup of warm salty water through it.

Sure, I LOOK peaceful, but I am really a vomit machine!

He's had a runny nose and upset stomach for a while, we think he is on the recovering side.

But we moved his feeding from 120cc formula every 3 hours to:
60cc milk, then 60cc pedialyte every 1.5 hrs

pedialyte is gross when it comes back up.

sure, he LOOKS peaceful. it is a disguise!

Well, the night started out calm, but violence broke out shortly after police began enforcing curfews.

If you watch the video attached to the story, thats the line you will hear.

Hmmm. Hard to believe.

According to the Mercury News, Broken windows were the damage (Thanks Julia)

"Police plan to debrief in the coming days and use many of the same strategies at the upcoming Cinco de Mayo celebration.

Police set the tone early. They had a message for any large groups of people massing on Santa Clara Street: ``Go away, goodbye, downtown is closed.''"

Yes, they said it. Downtown is Closed. Go away. We do not want your business, money or tourism.

Then out of the other side of the mouth, SJ officials wonder WHY WHY WHY Isn't San Jose a tourist spot like San Francisco.

Heck, even the Metro editor wonders...

Guess it all depends on perspective. This channel reported everything as quiet,

Tuesday, February 20, 2007

Pre-Note! I am not planning on going to Mardi Gras in San Jose. It's tuesday, I'm goin for tacos.

HOWEVER, if I DID want a party? It'd be Carnival in Austin. Notice how the people in the pix are smiling?

Ever wonder WHY San Jose is so boring, dull and lifeless?

"Police say they will have hundreds of officers on the street on foot, on horse, in cars and helicopters. The department says it doesn't want to give the appearance of a police state but it has been working with business owners for months. It says it needs to be ready, but they will stay out of the way as long as all goes well."

San Jose. Horses, Cars, Helicopters....

Police State

Read the last line in this article:
"Some downtown parking garages will also close earlier than usual to discourage people from coming to San Jose's downtown tonight."

I used to live in a town that celebrated its citizens, encouraging them to come downtown. Encouraging them to enjoy life.

I live in a wanna-be police state.

Our man out in the warm California sun.

It was a beautiful day today, so we went and hung outside in the grass

Wednesday, February 14, 2007

Tarzan left a Valentine's gift for the staff at his work. (daycare)

the big red chocolate heart is from another kiddo. It is amazing how much the parents care about the daycare staff. There is a reason. They are wonderful

Sunday, February 11, 2007

umm, okay, color me stupid. But HOW do you use the coffee pot to make meth?

Since I am not a big coffee drinker, this is not much of an issue for me, but still, EWWW!

it's Excer-Saucer triple play Madness!
He is big enough, he can play in this total command station of fun and madness.

Note- he pulled his tube out and got to play and such, tube free for a while later in the evening. You see that Tongue? It is always out now. Senor Tongue!

Saturday, February 10, 2007

first you let them play with knives,

and it leads to full scale terrorism.

I get a fresh diaper, or we are blowing things UP!

Friday, February 09, 2007

got home, took care of the kiddo, then I fell asleep when Sara got home.

I am sorry I did not type before falling asleep

Dr. Scates says I am good. The ultrasound is clean and clear. No Tumor! The PET/CT scan showed some stuff. He says it is probably part of the whatever in my testis. Like a bruise. Why is he not worried? Because my blood markers are way too clean. The blood markers show nothing, nada, zip.

So happy news.

AND - we will both be more diligent about me coming in 1x/year to check.

I am goin back to sleep. I am crazy tired. I think it is the rain.

Thursday, February 08, 2007

We just got back from his regular checkup with Dr. Contini. Our boy is doing well. He is "on the charts" for all size development.

Quick stats:
weight: 14lbs 6.5 oz
height: 26 1/2
head diameter: 42.8

he is improving his head control, he gave a spectacular demonstration of sitting up on his own. he was talkative, he was alert.

Dr. Contini said he is at or above the 6 month development marks in all areas (except, of course, the bottle/tube thing)

Saul got 4 shots: DTaP, HiB, Prevnar and a flu shot.

He wasn't too happy about it, but once he got dressed, he was smiling and flirting with the receptionist.

YAY Saul.

He has a head cold that comes and gos, but when the doc listened, his lungs were fine.

that's all

I am working up to a rant about why the govt is sending pallets of currency overseas, yet I still do not have a personal jet pack, the education system is falling apart, and the kitchen of the future is still not here.

sara took some snaps of our man last night

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

Tarzan has a cold again. runny nose, cranky, Poor baby.

I set up a new(er) computer at my pal Ken's shop.

My BMW is closer and closer to ready

I saw this program and thought about my pal OMJ, who once measured photographs against know sizes, to determine dimensions of a motorcycle

Went to a neighborhood association meeting, and met our candidate for City Council. Man, I am glad I am out of politics.

AND? It's raining, I'm tired, I want a big nap.

Will be working from home tomorrow, to take care of the baby.

Tuesday, February 06, 2007

ozzfest is free? YAY Sharon Osborne. PLEASE turn the record industry upside down! woo hoo!

Monday, February 05, 2007

I'm home from my hospital-riffic day of fun and adventure.

I feel skeezy. The radioactive sugars they use in the pet scan makes me feel like there is paste running through my veins and body. Everything is kinda slow and runny.

The Ultrasound went great. The nice technician said "clean and clear, I do not see any mass in the testicle" Which is what you want to hear.

The PET scan measures how fast sugars are dispelled through my lymph system. That technician kinda went "hmmm, hmmmm, hmmm. Your doctor will call you"

Which does NOT really build confidence. Now I am wondering, what if it isn't my ball, but some other part? I hope not.

I have an appointment with Dr. Scates on Friday. So I will definitely know something then. Unless I hear from Scates or Andonian first.

so? it's NOT testicular. Now I wonder what the pain there is?

And we will know more later this week.

On a happy note, Saul slept in bed with me last night, and was snoring and farting, and happy as could be when I took him to daycare this morning. He is a happy kid. YAY!

For the past, oh, 6 or 8 months, Sara and I have been irritated.

The front door of our house was hard to shut. And the deadbolt did not work. We would fight with the door, pushing and pulling, trying to get the lock to close. There have been many days we did not even lock the door, it was just too damn much of a fight.

I pulled the plate the deadbolt hits, and filed it out to make a bigger opening. this helped for about 4 days.

We thought about calling a locksmith. We thought about selling the house.

Tonight, our brilliant, wonderful and amazing pal SS Mark looks at it for less than 10 seconds, and says "you need to put a longer screw in the top hinge. It is loose, and the door is hanging wrong."

then we went out for dinner.

When we got back, he left, Sara is feeding the baby. I went to the garage, got some 2.5" screws, and replaced only ONE screw in the top hinge. ONE. ONE STINKING SCREW.

The door opens and closes with ease. The lock works with no problems.

I swapped 2 other screws, just to put in more support.

in less than 10 seconds, Mark solved something that has been troubling us for months and months

On Wednesday I met with Dr. Scates. He took some blood, checked around, and set up appointments with Dr. Andonian, and a CT/PET scan for Monday.

This morning I met with Dr. Andonian

Dr. says it probably isn't. but is an irritation instead. (you don't want to hear the details)

We have PET/CT scan and ultrasound on Monday, to be 100% sure.

but i think it is good news.
